On my work machine, in MS Visual Studio, I have the following components:

    Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
    Version 8.0.50727.42
    Microsoft .NET Framework
    Version 2.0.50727 SP1

    Installed Edition: Standard

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Applications
    Visual Studio 2005 Team Explorer
    SQL Server Analysis Services
Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Designer
    SQL Server Integration Services
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer
    SQL Server Reporting Services
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Designers

I'm looking to get C#/.net installed. Is this a separate liscence to install this?

Where are you pulling this info from? Visual Studio should have included C#.

I'm getting this list from Help | About Microsoft Visual Studio.

There's a list of "Installed Prodcuts", in this help window, and those were the components that I have.

I'd say you only have SQL Server installed. What's in Add/Remove Programs? What did you purchase a license for and install? This seems like an odd way to find out what you paid for. Visual Studio isn't cheap (unless you're a student). What's on the installation disk? Or did you purchase something via a download somewhere?

This is a laptop I was given, at my current company. It was a previous employees laptop. I don't know if it was installed via download or installation discs. You're probably correct that it's 2005 SQL server that is installed. It's what the last user was focused on was a lot of SQL statements/scripts.

So back to my original question, is C#/.net a separate liscence?

Look in Add/Remove Programs. What's listed?

If you don't have the full Visual Studio suite, you have to buy it. There are free express versions available, but you'd want to read the licensing very carefully to see what is and isn't allowed as far as commercial use, development, or enterprise distribution.
