Two days ago I watched a two hour DVD on my computer, which uses Windows 10. The DVD player -"Transcend" - is brand new. Then as of yesterday, no matter what DVD disc I insert, I receive this message:
"Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL ''dvd:///C:/Program%20Files%20%28x86%29/VideoLAN/VLC/''. Check the log for details." I have looked at a number of tutorials on line, but none have worked. I've also tried another - DVD app - 5KPlayer - without success. Please help!

It looks like VLC is trying to open something on "C:\Program Files\...". What drive letter is your "external dvd player"?

Thanks for your replies. It turns out that I had plugged in the wrong USB line (an extension from the main cord). Confusing, but I guess I should have read the instructions. Not sure what the other one is for.

AFAIK, they come with two male USB connectors so they have enough power to burn CD/DVDs. Reading CD/DVDs usually only requires one.
