At some point in VLC's release history, they started deploying their releases with the ability of their windows to remain a certain shape if you play a video that makes the window large enough. Now, with a video that's like 720x480, that's relatively easy to control. But, when you get to 720p videos, they can take up the whole screen. Is there some modifying that can be done so that, aside from maximization, VLC will reset back to a minimum footprint upon stopping of a video?

Yes their is a way, when the video stops and you see the giant blank VLC window, grab any corner of it and drag so it becomes smaller, after that when ever the video finishes it will return to this size.
Actually, I do that already. But, thanks anyways. I imagine that if that's the main solution, then there's no easy way to auto-reset the window size.
