For me, it's Firefox extension.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vt4browsers/
The concept looks good and the reviews I read spoke well of it.

But.
I took this screen shot just before doing an install but I didn't finish it because of the notice in the upper left hand corner which seemed a bit unnerving to me.

It seems a bit risky to me.
Thoughts and opinions welcome.

It's for my usage.
It was recommended at a Linux forum by a new member.
As a browser extension, it is supposed to run in FF on a Linux platform.
It's not an anti virus program/extension.
It's supposed to check downloads using Virustotal before saving to a drive.

But that message box threw me off.
Especially the part where it can make changes in download history.

I'm passing on it for the moment.

Thanks for the reply.

Virus Total is a famous site for security researchers and is owned by Google. Totally trustworthy.

At the site, you can upload a file and VT will scan it with 70 antivirus products giving you the results of each. You then decide if the file is OK. For example my SIEM flags the Ubuntu's diff utility as a trojan, but a look at VT says only 1 anti-malware firm out of 70 classifies it as such, and so I decide it is a false positive.
