VXD V cache error

Can someone help me out i had to reformat my sons computer everything went good till i tried to install windows 98. install went good but when it when to plug and play install somthing went wrong? IT says 0028:c004dfa1 in vxd v cache (01)+00000ad9 error started coming up.can some one tell me how i can fix this??????........Tail

Welcome to the board Tail.

The first thing I would do with a repeating vcache error, particularly duing an install, is look for memory/ram related faults.

If there is more than one stick of ram installed in the computer, the best test would be to swap out one at a time.

You can also try a software memory tester. Install it to a clean, formatted floppy and boot it like a boot disk. Let it run for a couple of "burnin" loops before pressing esc to terminate.

The Adobe help file should also be read and contains many useful tips on troubleshooting ram.
