    Hard drive defrags

    Registry servicing

Can W7 handle this in house without 3rd party software?

Yes. to hard drive defragging. Servicing the registry is unneeded and may cause more problems than it is solving.

So why are there registry admin tools that support upto W10 if they're unnecessary ?

    Just seems paradoxical!

I was advised in a W10 thread that Defender is adequate.

Is Defender adequate antivirus for W7 as well?

    That is correct.
Windows Defender only really removes spyware in Win 7 - it is better to use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Microsoft Security Essentials should disable Window Defender once it is installed.
