    Hi Good Peoples,

Hoping someone can help me please. All was well until recently when I started having problems opening up Microsoft Office data files.

If I launch the Word or Excel program and then open the document from within the application menu, the data files open normally.

However, if I click on either an Office document data file shortcut, or even the data file itself, it takes about a minutes to open, rather than a second or two.

I thought it may be the Office Program itself, so I installed an upgrade from Office 2002 to Office 2007, but it didn't fix the problem.

Running Windoze XP with all the latest updates.

    Anyone have any ideas please?

When you click on the document, it has to wait for Office to pick up on it , whereas , if the program is already open its rarin' to go. I have found tho , that when there are a couple of large programs used now and again , such as Office , Regular Defrags are a must!!!

    Thanks. Its defraged weekly.

It happens with small data files.

The Office program opens in a few seconds. Its only been recently that the data files have spun out from a few seconds to an inordinate amount of time.
