    Hi Guys,
I posted this in the "Other Software" thread, but got no leads. Maybe "Business Apps" is a better fit:

    Hello all,
I am trying to find an "out of the box" application that can be used to manage waiting lists. Here are the business requirements I have (its for a Parking lot project):

    1. Store Information on a customer
    2. Store the information such as the parking lot that they would like to park in
    3. Timestamp of when they were entered
    4. Able to delete, add, modify customers and their associated information
    5. Security around the maintenance and viewing of this information
    6. Sign up is handled internally by city staff
    7. Web based application

A lot of those requirements would be a nice to have...mainly, I am looking for a Waiting List application that can store some data on customers.

Has anyone seen anything like this? I would have thought there would be a lot of need ot these for application based on Waiting Lists...

Sounds like you might have to have some custom built, thats pretty specific as to what you want the program to do..

My guess is no, to the "I am trying to find an "out of the box"" for what you need, its very specific, Alot of what you are asking can be done in Access, but I am not sure about the web base application..

Microsoft Access can do all of that, including the web front end. You probably won't find many third-party packages that cater to eclectic businesses because Access is commonly used to build these tailor-made programs. If you want a turnkey application, you might consider asking around for a developer solution from local or regional software shops. People on the forums might help you a long way, or even do some of the work for you, but if you need any sort of long-term support it's better to enter into a binding agreement.

This could be developed using active server pages or XML. Both would allow you to create a web frontend which could link back to an access database.

Thanks guys for the replies. In our shop, we normally don't develop much...we buy out of box systems and customize those as needed. I guess in this case me may have to build from scratch. I'm just surprised no one has a comercial product that can be used for a wide range of businesses. Every business seems to have a waiting list of some sort. No matter what business you are in, the principles and requirements should be the same.
