I have a 40 gig hdd and i have another 40 gig hdd just lying around. I would like to add this one to my pc in conjuntion with the other hdd. Do I need to change the jumper on the secondary hdd? Also do I need to re format my whole computer to have both hdd's appear as one or is this even possable? I am rung xp pro svc pack 2. Any detailed instructions on getting this procedure done would be greatly appreciated. I know it can't be to difficult but I have never added two hdd as one before.

Check the jumper settings on the existing drive . . if it is jumpered to Cable Select, set the new one to Cable Select . . if it is jumpered Master, set the new one to Slave.

Connect the new one to the middle connector and boot the pc . . right click on My Computer . . select Manage . . then click on Disk Management.

Right click on the new disc, partition and format it.

and you are done! You can start using it.

Ken,

One thought...well 2 actually.

Perhaps you want the new drive on the 2nd controller as a Master? Just a thought.

Second take a look at the Drive's content BEFORE you format! What if it has your long forgotten Porn Collection on it!!!! :D
