Well ever since buying (i do things legally) a heap of norton software I have been having to wait excessive lengths of time for my computer to boot. once booted things take longer to load and it is just in general slowing down daily... This is my hijackthis log. I have done some work on it already but don't know everything that is listed in it.

You need to get the latest version of hijack, as yours is out of date, get it here then repost your log http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Before you do that though go here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html and get adaware, click to update it before running then get rid of all that it finds ......

Then go here http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html?part=104443&subj=dlpage&tag=button and get spybot, again update it before running, then get rid of anything that is ticked in RED ......

Go to Control Panel, add/remove programs and remove MsgPlus it is not recommended as it is bundled with Lop.com.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

If u ask me, I'll say Dont Use Norton. Remove it. Its ok for networks but too heavy for single computers. Try another lighter antivirus like Bitdefender. I found it light and a lot more friendly and easy to use than Norton. My computer is a really fast now that i removed Norton.

Thanks for the help so far. I am already using the latest version of spybot and adaware and they don't detect anything 99% of the time. This is a log of the new HJT:

I have yet to remove those entries that you mentioned but i thought before i do so I will let you guys see the new log. Also another thing that my computer is doing that I can't understand as I can't work out what process is doing it is that every 2 seconds it is reading/writing to the HDD as if using paging files, but i have 1024mb of ram and only half is used right now and it is doing it as i type this thread???? It has got me and i am wondering if any of you could have an explanation and possibly a fix as it does lag processor dependant applications like CS:S and HL2.

    Thanks again
