OS: Windows XP

Turned on my PC this morning, read the news and I noticed the text beginning to get wavy or wobbly.
Seconds later my PC shut down by itself.
Powered back on and immediately shut down.
Waited a few minutes, tried again and powered up normally.
Shut it down for a while... maybe an hour, then powered on again and it happened again.
Wavy screen then shut down.
Since, I've had a wavy screen, but no shut down.

Any help out there?

Thanks,

sounds like your video Card is over heating.

Do you have onboard video?
If so try removing your video card and plug it into the onboard to see if it happens again.

Or if you have a second video card kicking around to replace.

If something in your computer is overheating, of course it would :D. It's more of a fail safe thing, better to shut off then start a fire wouldn't you say ? hehhe

Ok, thanks for that info.

Could it be an electrical problem as well? I'm wondering if I'm draining the life out of this old house's wires.
