I have had a WD usb 2500bb mass storage drive for about 2 years. It has worked fine up until yesterday. When trying to access anything on it, I get a message saying "the disk must be formatted."
I have quite a bit of music and games on there and I don't want to lose anything. I have gone into the device manager and uninstalled it and rebooted, allowing the computer to reinstall the drive, but it still won't let me open it. The drive is showing up on "my computer" and in the device manager tab. Any idea why this suddenly quit working or what I might be able to do to get it working properly again?

The data is important so I recommend removing the drive from the enclosure and connecting it internally to a desktop computer. Once you've recovered your data, you can format the drive and place it back into the enclosure foa a test run.

NOTE to the WISE: Data you have only one copy of is data you don't care about.
