I have just installed a mini usb web camera and after installing the software and pluging in the webcam, i get an error saying there was anerror on installation and the camera may not work properly. When I run the attached software it says there is no video capture hardware. I have looked in the device manager and there is a yellow excelmation mark om the minicam. The info says that the driver is incorrect. I have tried the manufactures website and down loaded the driver, but still have the same problem. Any help would be appreciated. PS I have tried it on another pc and works ok.

Get your CD ready, boot to the command prompt, and run "sfc /scannow".

Also, unplug the camera, check in your device manager, click view "show hidden devices", remove all grayed out entries, all entries with question marks, and all entries with exclaimation marks. Then reboot. Then plug the camera into your USB, (don't use a hub) and load the drivers if they don't load automatically.

I tried what you said, and still no joy. I tried another camera and this time i got the blue screen and the whole computer crashed. When I look at the device manager, it says that the driver did not load and gives a code 39. Perhaps this might be of help.

The other thing I forgot to mention, was that my laptop has xp service pack 2 on it, and the other pc's that I have tried it on have not. Could this be it?
