Alright, so basically today while using the latest Chrome, I started running into problems such as this:

FB | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

It's the same with Photobucket and Myspace that I've found thus far. (I don't use Myspace, I just tested the URL when Facebook started acting up).

I tried it with firefox, and the same thing on all three pages.
Any suggestions? No cleaners or anything have been run since.

Thanks

I am having the exact same problem. Facebook is not displaying properly on Firefox, Chrome, Safari or IE 8.0 on this laptop. It looks fine on other computers and the iPad so I'm sure the problem is with this machine. There is one other website that I've noticed that is not displaying properly either. For the most part, though, the rest of my Internet browsing is unaffected. This started 2 days ago. I made sure I have the latest version of Java and restarted computer a couple of times. I've done a PC Tune-Up scan, run a SpyBot scan and several Spyware Doctor scans. I use McAfee Total Protection, Spyware Doctor and SpyZooka on a daily basis. Some clues where to look would be helpful. Thanks.

Does your McAfee come with the ScriptStopper option?

If it does, disable the option.

I could not find a Script Stopper option on the McAfee home screen. (I looked through every option that was selectable.) However, now that you mentioned "scripts". Firefox frequently crashes on my 64-bit machine and often I get an error message about "scripts stop working". The options at the bottom of the message are (I think): "Stop Scripts", "Continue", or "Cancel". Perhaps I clicked on "Stop Scripts". If so, how do I get everything back. As I mentioned this just started maybe 2 days ago and only on this computer. Thanks.

I believe the script error comes up as a Visual Basic or Runtime Environment problem? Sorry, I usually click through the message so fast when it appears that I might not necessarily be referencing it correctly.

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do not fix anything

Hmmm... could this BHO be part of the problem?

BHO: scriptproxy - {7DB2D5A0-7241-4E79-B68D-6309F01C5231} - C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\McAfee\SystemCore\ScriptSn.20101113092734.dll

The BHO entry you're seeing is for IE8 only. You might have a similar one inside your other browsers too but HijackThis only shows IE.

Try disabling the McAfee ScriptScan add-on from IE8.

If no luck, try disabling McAfee completely.

The BHO in IE8 was already disabled. Went ahead and disabled McAfee. No effect on any of my browsers. Facebook still shows up exactly like the photo that was submitted by the original poster of this thread.

No joy, unfortunately. Firefox is my default browser, anyway. I only used IE8 to check to see if the problem was present in all my installed browsers. I always use Firefox (unless it crashes) and then Safari is my next preferred browser. Something in my computer has changed in the past 2 days. Just don't know what. Whatever it is, from the Google search I've done, other people have experienced similar issues. Just can't seem to find anyone with a solution. Folks have said to update Java, but I did that yesterday and it didn't fix anything. So, clueless now...

Try booting your computer into Safe Mode with Networking. Let me know if it makes any difference.

Okay, it's fixed but not for the reason you are thinking. I did a computer restart and as it was booting up I hit the F8 key but I guess I wasn't fast enough because the "Starting Windows" message came across the bottom of the screen. I held down the power button to keep the machine from finishing the boot. Then I restarted and got the screen about how Windows was unable to start, did I want to continue or do a system repair. So I chose the system repair. The machine scanned for startup problems (well I know the problem was a power interruption because I held the power button in) but I wanted to see if the scan found anything else. I was prompted to revert the system back to a restore point, which it did. And presto, after startup was complete, Facebook worked on Firefox. Magic! So, great for me, but unfortunately now I truly don't know what the solution was if the problem happens again in the future.
