webcam causes crashes

Whenever I try to use my webcam in
yahoo messenger my computer crashes.
Then i get a blue screen message saying
windows protection error. Your computer
must be restarted. System halted. I
have tried out whether my webcam is
compatible with messenger and i did get
a picture of myself for a few seconds
before it crashed again .I would be
most grateful for any help you can give.

Sounds like you may have an IRQ conflict......are you running windows 98?

If so, start button, run, then type msinfo32 and hit ok.....go to hardware, IRQs, edit, select all, edit, copy and come back and paste your listing.
