Webcam Not Recognized - Inspiron 1545

    I've had my computer just over a year and this is the second time my internal webcam has just stopped working. I have no idea what the tech guys did to fix it the first time, and I'm not under warranty anymore. When I go to device manager, it says everything is working properly. I've tried installing device updates from Dell's support website. Any other ideas?

    Ah, those wonderful tech guys who fix your PC but never tell you how they did it - no surprises there.
    Are you sure the webcam is actually listed in Device Manager at all?
    If a device isn't listed it could mean it's actually faulty to the point where DM can't detect it.

    Whatever, it won't do any harm to try re-installing it's driver, and you can download that from Dell's support website:
    UK site: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen
    If you need a different country, click top-left for a drop-down list.

    I downloaded both of the Video drivers from there yesterday. Neither of them helped. Is there a different one I'm supposed to download?

    My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Looks like you need the Dell webcam central software suite. Try downloading and installing it from http://dell.to/cYoztM. You can also download it from https://smartsource.dell.com/. You need to register yourself using the system's Service Tag number.

    If that doesn't help, try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the below link
