Weird looking start button

    Ok, most people start buttons say start......mine on the other hand looks like this

    Any thoughts, oh yeah, running win98 se, with active desktop on as a webpage(didn't help to turn it off).

    What operating system? 95 98 ME?
    Are you using any utilities like Tclock or Microangelo to change the start menu appearance? If so, turn them off and see if that helps.

    You can also try extracting a fresh copy of explorer.exe to C:\windows and see if that helps.

    No utilities, win98 se, the thing is it doesn't always look like that, sometimes it has other shapes and colors, but never start

    could be corrupt video drivers, you can try and download and install new ones

    I have seen the start and the the space around the icons by the clock change colors. Somethimes you can get it to go away if you hide the task bar and other times you need to reboot.
