Hey everyone, so i have a very strange problem.

any time i try to open an install .exe with THIS type of icon:

i get the error, "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file."

however, i can install .exe's with basically any other type of icon. not sure what the problem is.

i am the administrator of this computer and there is only one account, and that is mine. can't open them in safe mode either. any suggestions???? thank you!!!

    running windows xp sp2

Check the properties. Are they all InstallShield installers?

i'm not sure where exactly to find out, though i don't think they are as some of the other programs i've installed that DO work are installshield. i don't get that error for the first two seconds while it gears up to install and it says its the Wise Install Wizard

    Do MSI installers work?

Any other problems that might indicate an infection?

    Is System Restore a possibility?
