Hey,

Have just upgraded the RAM on a desktop computer from 256MB to 1GB. The upgrade is recognised in the BIOS, in CPU-Z and in just about every other system analysis software I have used. The problem is that Windows (XP) is still showing the system as having only 256MB installed in both Control Panel and Task Manager.

Is there any help you guys can provide? Thanks

It is possible to limit the amount of RAM in XP. Check that someone hasn't done that.

Click Start- > Run -> Type MSCONFIG and press ENTER. Click on the BOOT.INI tab and then click on Advanced. Make sure the /MAXMEM= boxed is NOT checked.
