Friend has a Sony Vaio he asked me to look at needed network driver. I went to control panel and clicked device manager, got the following error message. "The specified service does not exist as an installed service." I have never seen or even heard of that problem, however he said network driver was needed so i went to Sony downloaded the driver onto flash drive, when tried to open with Sony got same error message as above. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Specs. Sony Vaio VGN-FE890 Windows Vista Home Premium sp2 32bit Intel Core 2 T5500 3GB ram

Yeah DaveA, the only problem is the Sony cant get online, and when saved drivers to flash stick, the Vaio wouldn't accept the installation of the files with the same error message as above. I have noticed that anything involving changing something I get the same error message, ie: regedit, disk defrag, add/remove programs.....

Do a "Run" the MSCONFIG, there select the "Services" tab. See if the Network services have been stopped or what the status of them area.
