My computer has a Pentium II MMX 350 MHZ Processor. I know this because it is the first thing it says on the screen when I boot it up. This morning however, when I turned it on, it said Pentium II-175 MHZ. I shut down and rebooted and it was back to normal. What could have caused this? Is it a warning sign that my processor is about to die? The computer will be 5 years old this August.

I don't think it is the cpu. The first thing I would suspect is the cmos battery. Have you ever changed it? If not there is a possibility it is getting weak.

To my knowledge I have never changed the CMOS battery. I did install a new power supply when the old one died in July of 2000. Would the new power supply have a new CMOS battery?
