So I have a external hard drive I loaned to a friend so she could watch a couple movies on her mac (I used xp) soon after giving it to her she said it just didn't work any longer. Long story short, time machine somehow got on it/did something to it/I dont know. When I plug it into my pc/xbox it will no longer come up in My Computer but it does make the connect sound and comes up in the icon bar as a "safely remove hardware" icon. I don't really know what to do, at all. I would like to save all the data seeing as I have spent a lot of time amassing it but from what I have heard that may not be possible. Either way I need to get something going on it. If anyone has any idea's please help me out. Anything will be helpful. Thank you!

Does it show up in Disk Management?

    Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management> Disk Management

Tek Time - It is a 1 TB Western digital MyBook Essential. I believe the model number is WDH1U10000N

Here is a newegg link to one:

Alex Ethridge - Yes, it does. But unfortunately it shows all my data as lost . What would the next step be to get it back to its original state?
