I'm looking at motherboards and wonder what the PCI express 2.0 x 1 slots are used for. Is this old technology?

PCI Express x1 slots are common in modern motherboards and are used for installing add-on cards, such as ethernet or wireless or USB expansion.

You're welcome. :)

You're fortunate to have a motherboard with 4 PCI Express x1 slots because it allows you to install multiple add-on cards. (y)
