Has anyone heard of/seen this file? I've looked it up but can't find any reference to it. Last night I downloaded MS updates and wonder if this was included; when I booted up this morning, Scottie (WinPatrol) asked me if I wanted to allow it and now I am not sure. A couple of other programs I use are picking it up but none give any information. I am running Windows XP Home on a Dell Dimension. Thanks for any help!

Get HiJack This V1.99.1 http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe - double click the DL file and click UNZIP letting it extract to its default folder C:\Program FIles\HiJackThis, run it from there, DO NOT fix anything, post the log here.

I did a search for it at GOOGLE.COM and SYSINFO.ORG and came up with nothing.

Follow MFDnSC's instructions and post a HijackThis log here. It'll show us what's running in the background and if any "nasties" are present.

I ran CounterSpy and AdAware; nothing exciting turned up. I've run HiJack This with the usual results: I recognize most things, but not all and know better than to fool around with the magic "Delete" key! That almost always gets me into more trouble. Here's the current log. Thanks for your assistance!!

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

    Please download FixWareout

    http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, Hijack This will launch.

Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmdas.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmdas.exe

    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://software-dl.real.com/21f372ef...p/RdxIE601.cab

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{F88A1E0D-2874-4B14-A359-CFB956878F7A}: NameServer = 85.255.115.36,85.255.112.134

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new Hijack This log.

I downloaded Fixwareout.exe and ran it, installed it and checked "Run fixit" as per your instructions. The fix, however, did not begin. The install window simply closed. I tried it again, downloading to another location. Same thing. I restarted my computer but there were no prompts except a "New Startup" messsage (which has appeared again as I was typing this) from WinPatrol: "C:\Windows\System 32\dmjle.exe" was trying to start up. I don't know if this is part of the fix; I wouldn't allow it to start. I don't know why the Fix would not run; should I continue with HJT and remove the files you indicated? What do you suggest next? Thanks, Carol

Try it in safe mode - sounds as if WinPatrol may be interfering

    then do the fixes

Not sure what the difference is between "Quick Reply" and "Post a Reply"...hope this gets where it needs to go. I have had a bad day...nothing seems to be working. Now another .exe program wants to start up and I get a message every few minutes: this one is dmjle.exe. I've been trying to find these programs on my computer and actually did find this one but can find no information. I don't want to delete it, in case. I ran Roxio's GoBack. Then I found I'd lost my e-mails for today...I looked for Fix through Google and kept getting this poker site with every link I tried. Oh boy. Then I ran all my spywares...CounterSpy, Norton, MS AntiSpyware, the MS Beta (new) computer clean up - now, at least the poker site doesn't load. I start up in Safe Mode and try to run FixWareout but - in SM I don't seem to have an Internet connection. The program starts but I can't get very far because it tells me I need Internet. So, no fix and no log. I also disabled WinPatrol. All this has taken me until now and I am not really any further ahead, am I? Shall I go ahead and run HJT again, and delete the files you suggested? Thanks again, Carol

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ (W2K/XP Only)
    · Install ewido.
    · During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    · Launch ewido
    · It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
    · On the left side of the main screen click update
    · Click on Start and let it update.
    · DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:
(Start tapping F8 at the first black screen after power up)

    Run Ewido:
    · Click on scanner
    · Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    · During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    · When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    · Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
    Boot to normal mode
Post that log and a new HiJack log

Hello! With the Christmas holidays, school break etc...I haven't been able to have the kind of time I need to work on the computer. Today the house is empty and the coffee pot is full - ideal working conditions. I follow instructions well but I do need to work slowly and carefully and without distraction as I am easily confused. I followed your directions as posted (it took me 4 tries to get into Safe Mode - does that tell you something about my skills??!!) and only ran into a snag when I looked for the (ewido) Save report button. It was not active and I couldn't figure out a way to Save it. What I did was type out what I thought were the important details and here they are (on previewing this message it seems that my formatting isn't retained; I hope you can make sense of it. I put the location first, then the name of the spyware found in that location):

Neither one of the two offending file messages I originally reported have shown up since our last correspondence.

What I have been seeing, however, upon each and every start up is the following message:
    "Norton AntiVirus 2005
Please wait while Windows configures NAV 2005"

    Then another message pops up:
    Preparing to install

Norton AntiVirus does not support the Repair feature; please uninstall and reinstall.

I click OK to that but it always pops up two more times.

I haven't responded to that message - I don't know if it is a Windows issue or a Norton issue or if it is even related to my initial problem. If it it something separate, I'll have to investigate that by itself.

Thank you for all your assistance - I do appreciate your time and knowledge!
    Happy New Year.

    Carol

That Norton issue means you need to uninstall Norton and then Reinstall it

Sorry - I had downloaded the newest version during my initial posts and THOUGHT that was what I was using! I've deleted it and installed it from the website just now:

You need to disable MS Anti realtime protection and any others you have so that fixwareout can run

Stop MS Anti - Ewido - CounterSpy

    After wareout fix these

Please make sure I understand correctly: I should turn off ALL protection (including Norton, MS and Counterspy)? and then run Fixwareout.
