what is parity? and how do i fix a parity error?

    On boot up i get two beeps, which the manual for my ASUS P4C800 Deluxe mainboard says is a parity error. what does this mean? and how can i fix it?

    That means it has detected an error in the RAM in the PC.
    Try reseating the RAM chips, or replacing.

    If you have configured your BIOS for ECC checking, and you don't have 72 bit memory, you'll get that error. Check the BIOS settings, that may be all that's required.
