Everytime I log on an error message pops up "RUNCHECK.EXE
BAD FILE NAME" I click on it and it goes away. I'd like to get rid of it. I've searched for it in the registry, but I can't find it. I've also tried to end process in task manager. It just has no effect.

The only thing that it does to my knowledge is put up the message...

    Thanks J.

I located this from another forum, sounds like your problem

runcheck.exe is runtime check software installed when you install nVIDIA graphic card drvier.

It is a vendor specific software, so if windows 2000/XP does install your graphic card driver by itself at installing windows 2000/XP, you cannot find runcheck.exe.

Only when you install your graphic card driver for nVIDIA graphic card, you can find it. Then if you change your graphic card or install DirectX software, runcheck.exe warns you that it cannot access any file.

Find setupapi.log in c:\winnt In setupapi.log, you can find installation log of runcheck.exe. If you do not have nVIDIA graphic card anymore, you can delete runcheck.exe. If you change one nVIDIA graphic card with other nVIDIA graphic card, delete runcheck.exe and reinstall new nVIDIA graphic card driver.

    Good luck!

go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
