I'm trying to do a Install REPAIR on a laptop running XP Pro. I type "R" to enter the repair console and it then comes up with an Administrator Password ?

I did the XP install on this HD not long ago and did NOT set any Admin Password.

When I simply hit Enter at the Prompt, I get thrown into a DOS Prompt C:Windows/

Where do I go from here ????

At the present time we are unable to assist with anything to do with Passwords for anything, basically because of the fact that we can not determine the ownership of the computer and the fact that this is a security matter. Please read the Tech Support Guy rules below:

Clearly from what you said you entered the correct password. :) I believe that you took the wrong turn that many of us take and got into the Recovery Console, and you really want to do a repair install. See this: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

If you press Enter and it goes to the command prompt then there is no password set. The Recovery Console always should ask for a password for the Admin regardless if one is set or not.

By the way, you pressed R at the wrong time, you do not want to go to the Recovery Console. To do the Repair install you must go further, see here: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
