In Win7 I believe that there's a command-line program that essentially goes through the OS and examines all the OS files for damage and replaces them if needed. It's been so long that I've forgotten what this handy item is called.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Many thanks!

    The command is:

    sfc /scannow

You need to right click on the command prompt, CMD, and run it as Administrator too.
