I was running backup4all but it was idle when I left my pc for an hour or so. When I came back the following was on my screen
    "vscsrv2008x64.exe has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program & notify you if a solution is available."
I did a search for it on google & it seems to be related to backup programs but i cant determine if it is serious.
    Any help appreciated.

The file is related to the back up program you mentioned. The program is not free. Did you purchase it or download the free trial? If the latter then it's possible the trial has expired and you have to decide if you want to purchase it or uninstall it.

If you purchased it, perhaps some security software is interfering.

Have you ever run it successfully?

What security software are you running?

    Hi Cookiegal:
The boot disk on my prior PC self destructed 2 months ago so I purchased a new one (~1 month) with win 8.1. I've been down loading programs since then. I have been using Backup4All for years & have all the registration info but for a few days I used the free version before registering to the paid version. Since I haven't seen the error file since I made the initial post I think it would be safe to assume that your explanation is correct. I am relieved that it is probably not malicious malware.
    Thank you.

    You're welcome. :)

If it's not happening any longer and the program is working properly then I don't think there's any cause for concern.
