    I use a Athlon xp1500+

    I also have a pentium III 450

I chose the athlon because i wanted to see both worlds.

I like the athlon, more bang per buck

Have a XP1800+ Can go up to a XP2400 now.

    512 MB DDR memory.
64 MB DDR memory video card.

I know you did not ask about the memory but faster memory helps. :)

--Athlon XP1800+ (Palomino Core/ the hotter one !!). This is my fastest system, right now. When I built it; Just gave me more for my money in performance than Intel could. Need it for Video Capture and DVD creation intense Applics.

    Next fastest and 2nd choice... .P3/750 Slot1.

Then also-- I have other slower systems and CPU's lying aroun some of which I should probaly try sellin on Ebay. They are P3/533EB, P3/500 (both slot1), P3/ Celeron 566, Celerons (433 & 400), AMDK6/233, and a classic Pentium 200MMX. Oops ! Let's not forget the Cyrix133 with a P166+ rating.

    Upstairs: Pentium 4 2.0A

    Downstairs: AMD XP2000+

When putting together PC's for friends, I incorporate
AMD's. Hard to beat the price, but personally, my next rig
    would be a P4 2.8 - 3.0 ghz w/hyper-threading.

My main system is an athlon 2600+ w/ 333 FSB..runs like a complete top. I only have it cause it is there. Do i need that much? no...none of us do...but its there so we want it.

My second PC (which my wife and son use) is a P4 2.4Ghz - I only got the P4 because i wanted to compare the two but I really couldn't fairly since my athlon is so loaded in other areas.

I think it will be hard to get me away from amd for my main. I will be getting an athlon 64 relatively soon i think...cause its there.

Got a bunch of Athlon XP machines. Got a bunch of old celerons and AMDk6's that aren't running. Most of us here at TSG are very price conscience. This in turns makes the AMD chips the better of the two buys.

Can't believe you haven't stripped that machine and dumped the motherboard yet.

    no doubt.

Hmmm.... not enough on the POLL...

    I have 3 AMD XP CPUS (2500 / 2000 / 3000), PIII-1Ghz notebook, P1-166notebook.

Why AMD: Power <> Price ratio, and not playing Intel's "match the mobo' game.

AMD 1800+ at home for a work based PC and a PI 233 in the basement running a web server and DNS. I love the Athlon XP for the price and it is a great PC to do graphics and web development on. Intel couldn't beat the price either.
