What Should My Drive Configuration Be?

    I have a drive d, drive e and diskette but I am not sure I know my configuration after changing things!! Thanks

    Hiya mrfixituk.

    As a default rule, the basic setup is the diskette (or floppy drive) is drive A and if there`s a secondary floppy drive, that`ll be drive B. The system hard drive (primary / master) is drive C and is attached to the IDE 1 or primary connector on the mobo. The optical drive is drive D and is attached to IDE 2 or secondary connector. If you have two hard drives or partitions, the second drive (secondary / slave) is drive D and the optical is E.

    Unless you`re playing tricks and setting up a dual-boot system, then always install the system to drive C, the first hard drive.
