Hi, I recently moved and installed a Creative X-Fi and began having problems with the general performance of my system. Every now and then it begins to run unusually slow, especially when exiting a folder or program. Also, it will sometimes take a very long time to shut down. Occasionally when I close IE6 I get an error message saying "The instruction at "0x10005fbe" referenced memory at "0x10005fbe" could not be read" but my computer doesn't crash and everything continues to run normally. The last time I powered down my computer, it was trying to end RCLDMWND but was unable to do so, which was why it was taking so long to shut down. I've googled that term, but only find two links, neither of which were very helpful. So far I've tried doing scandisk on my hardrive (everythings fine), uninstalling the X-Fi card (didn't help) and running the latest version of Symantec in safe-mode (everything is clean). Here's the pecs for my system:

    Intel Pentium 4 550 Prescott 3.4GHz
Dell 0M3918 mobo 800 MHZ bus
    2 gig DDR2 ram (2 x 512 Samsung PC3200, 1 x 1gig Wintec PC4300)
Windows XP Home w/service pack 2

P.S. I realize my rams have different clock speeds but they've been working fine for about 5 months now and I haven't had any problems with them.

Take a read on this part of the forum for this

    http://forums.techguy.org/security/230148-solved-please-help-about-blank.html

Let's start by doing a HijackThis

To download HJTsetup.exe To Download HijackThis go to the following: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item5
    Filename = 1137518044HJTsetup.exe
Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Open a TechSupportGuy forum Reply window under Internet & Networking in Security for this thread, to have ready to paste the Hijackthis log into. Click once to place the typing cursor in the reply window.
At the top of your TSG/browser window, hit Edit then Paste
You should see your copied Hijackthis log appear in the reply space....then, submit the reply and copy and paste the link in the address bar back to the original thread you were in.
DO NOT have Hijack This fservice pack 2ix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Welcome to TSG.....

WhiteRook If you need help and I am sure you do it would be best to post a new thread with this problem even though it is the same problem I am sure you have a totally different computer and also two posts in the same thread is too difficult to handle and keep track of what is what and for who it is for.

I found a solution to the problem. Appearently the X-Fi card installs DLLML.exe, which is a non-essential program. You can kill it in the Task Manager processes list, but it will come back when you restart your computer. I've tried using msconfig to remove all creative software from the startup list, but it always comes back. Someone on this threadthread claims to have solved it permanently by uninstalling the drivers, then reinstalling only certain ones, but I haven't tried it yet cause I'm lazy and the problem went away.
