I'm often having trouble getting downloads from AVG, mostly on dial up connections.

Anyone know if they're having trouble with updates?

yes they often had trouble on version 6 - eventually it works.. you may just need to keep trying..

somewhere on there site are alternative urls to download updates from - but i cant find them right now
I eventually swiched to avast because of this problem

also you can download the update manually and install

I was looking at their site. The download is only up to date 'til 28th Dec.

I suspect the Update Manager update has something to do with it.

I haven't used Avast. Is it just as good?

    Hi CHH

AVG7's update is current as of Jan 28, 2005.
download the update file to your desktop http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_updt7.php

    Open the AVG control Center,
Double click on Update Manager to see the properties window.

Remove the checkmark for Do not ask for the update source
Apply, OK, to save and close.

Click on Check Updates, when AVG asks where the file is point it to the file on your desktop.

    Let us know what happens.
