I am trying to open a pdf file with Adobe Reader 8.1 and always get an error message to send to Microsoft.
Can anyone help me? I use XP. and Mozilla Firefox, have also tried with IE and get same result.

Could you give us the full text of the error message, please?

Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
Send Error Report (which I have done about 5 times but have had no reply))

Probably easiest to just uninstall Adobe Reader; restart; install again.

Hewee--Thank you very much. I had uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader 8.1 and was completely frustrated.
I downloaded the Foxit Reader and it works very well, I didn't know about that program and am extremely happy that you helped me. I really appreciate your help. Have a very good day!

    Oldwest,
You welcome and your see that after doing it a couple times that you can turn off that small ad it has. But updates are easy too because you just go to help "check for updates now" and then your see another screen with updates.
The Foxit PDF Editor is the only one that is not free.

Any of the ad-on are also easy to uninstall just by going to the folder you have Foxit in and deleting it.
