Hi, My mouse is 4 years plus old.
It has always been stable and no problems until the last few days..
the little rubber feet are worn....and lately I get no mouse sometimes on booting up.
I have Windows 2000, and have cleaned the mouse, troubleshooted the mouse, and all the drivers it says are up to date, and it says the mouse is not conflicted and this "device works properly"....it says all the good stuff.....but
Sometimes it is not there at the boot up, and I have to check the connections at the ports and manually reboot, etc.
Is there a way to see if I have a mouse takeover or virus in it, or is my mouse just too old now...any help would be appreciated...
    It is a microsoft PS/2 mouse....Thanks

At the price of new ones, why pull your hair out. Just pick up another one.

Me thinks your poor old mouse needs to be laid to rest. At least try a new to see if the behaviour improves.

"Mice typically live between 1.5-2.5 years. For their lifespan, you will be committing to provide water, food, shelter, and lots of love. The quality and quantity of water, food, shelter, and love greatly affects the lifespan of your mice. With plenty of clean water, good food, space to play, and love, your mice will lead long and full lives. Mice will also require medical care. If you are new to mice, allow for at least three vet (tech) visits for each mouse."

Thanks so much. So my olde mouse is to be history, and I should be grateful as it served me well beyond its technatural years. :)

These work great and add to the life of mice feet. They work much better than teflon tape and your mouse glides along precise and smooth. http://www.slicksurf.com/

Thanks so much everyone...the new mouse is already on the PC.....I will write down what you said GCDUDE in case the mouse cursor disappears again, and is "precursive" indication of a larger problem (no pun intended).

I've been thinking about this thread title all day. You replace the mouse when the cat caught the last one :p :p

I had no idea it was such a (cat)chy title....(pun intended for sure) :p

And yes Cookiegal and ACA, some of the things I say about the pc when I read them are funny, ...sounds like a little kid asking questions....but I AM only 4 years old on the PC (a very immature 4 years may I add as I just learned to copy and paste about a year ago), so what should I expect.
