After researching on the web, decided to ask the experts. I know I need a firewall software program, which is better. Sygate or Zone Alarm?

You will probably start a raging debate here, as both are good firewalls, I have used both but prefer to use Sygate as it has a better GUI and I can tweak it the way I like.

Either one will do the job for you.

    Greetings,

I have installed Sygate but it crashed after first restart, never could run it, even. Tried a couple of times, then gave up. ZoneAlarm, the latest version, gobbles up all available memory (could easily take 160MB) and slows my computer.... what would you recommend? Don't have a credit card, hence I must use freeware...

    Thanks,
    D.

If you have a router that does NAT that will probably be good enough. Tiny Firewall is a good desktop firewall if you really want to use one.

I'm using Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6.2808 in both my 98SE and XP SP2 computers and it works great. (y)
