    Hi,

I'm trying to look at an ad for Yahoo DSL and can't without Flash. It's brings up several types:

    Macromedia Flash Player
    Shockwave Player
    Authorware Player

I'm a little concerned that spyware might travel in my sys with these.

Can you recommend which one to d/l.

    Thanks, ganaan

I would get macromedia flash player. They created Flash. Less likely to try to get you to see ads, etc.

    Thank you Dreamboat.

Is this a site I can ask about Firewalls? Am getting dsl this week, thru Verizon, which says microsoft or msn offers firewall.

Would that be a good one?

    thanks

Listen...any web page you go to might contain these kinds of media. I wouldn't bother downloading until you're asked to.

I would download the flash player for now--it's commonly used all over the web. I've only used shockwave for some pretty specific sites, so you may never need that one at all.

OHHH! You edited your post. Okay.

To answer your Q, sure! Ask all you want. Just try to pick the best forum to ask in from this list:
    http://forums.techguy.org/index-.html

    You'll want Security, I'm sure.

    Oh shoot.
But if you want my humble opinion...

    I have cable, had DSL...

Just go to www.mcafee.com and buy your online virus protection and firewall right there together. That's what I'd do.

    Thank you.

I saw how quickly it was to install, and changed my post.

I had a feeling it wasn't so necessary (flash) I mean. I wonder, I probably have a security setting against it.

Thanks, didn't realize there was a Security Forum in this site.

    Take care, ganaan

    Hi again,

Why did you switch back to dial up?

Which DSL did you have? I take it that wouldn't have mattered.

I am going to keep my 10.00 per month service just in case.

    Thanks, ganaan
