Which of the two computers would be better for playing games?

    Option 1:
    Desktop PC
    HP Pavilion w1907s
    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ 2.60GHz
    2.00 GB RAM
    32-bit
    1440x900
    NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

    Option 2:
    Laptop
    HP Compaq Preario CQ71
    Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4300 @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz
    4.00 GB RAM
    64-bit
    1600x900
Intel 4 Express Chipset Family (or something similar)

Well, the laptop is likely using shared video memory and a more anemic video card. In addition, the T4300 is no speed demon, so I'd have to lean to the desktop.

Truthfully, neither of these is all that suited for today's demanding games.

True, I got the desktop 2-3 years ago, and the laptop earlier this year, but of course, laptops aren't really designed for gaming.

I suspect you're due for a desktop upgrade, it's the cheapest way to get a good gaming machine. Laptops that have the power for really good gaming are still pretty expensive.
