    Hey Gang,

I have a question. If each month is set so that it has 4 weeks in it, and if we have 12 months in the year, why do we have 52 weeks in the year instead of 48?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have 13 months?

Has anyone ever thought of this before? Does anyone have a good name for the extra month? Wouldn't it be more precise to have that extra month, or would it be more trouble than its worth?[IMG]

Put an extra month between August and September. Call it Pretember, or put it before October and call it Proctober.

    Hey Gang,

I have a question. Why does Hulk only use 701 after his member name...why not 721? ;):D

BTW Probably because the people who made the "year" up were superstisious about the number 13....

That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if there was a physical reason for having 12 months...

Anyway, back on topic, the amount of lunar cycles in the year is somehwere between 12 and 13, so its kind of arbitrary whether you have 12 or 13 months. I think there are some calenders which have 13 months (don't quote me on that).

At a guess I would say that ours has 12 because it is derived from the Sumerian numbering system, which included use of base 60 (hence 60 seconds and minutes, as well as the measurement of angles). 12 fits into this system a lot better than 13.

364 / 13 = 28 days per month and you still have a leap year to cover the 365th day. Sounds good to me, where do I sign up? And do we have a contest to name the new month? You need to start a new thread to name the new month. What do we win?
