It could be a number of things, but recently we've been seeing this associated with Xupiter spyware.
    Would you please do this:

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

You will need to post a little more information what version of windows you are using and your computer specs.

I suppose you read my PM on what to do about the MSVBVM60.DLL error?

Still sounding like Xupiter to me.

Are you able to run Hijack This and post the log now?

If you installed the visual basic 6.0 Runtime files correctly, Hijack This won't complain of one of them missing.

    Or try this:

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy

After installing, you NEED to press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .
These aren't needed for our present purpose, and you can always experiment with them later on.

Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds.

NOTE: SSD will sometimes not be able to remove all active components in the first 'run'.
In that case you will get a dialog asking you to run SSD at next start.
    Click yes and reboot.
Subsequently SSD will come up before the system puts these components 'in use', and it will then be able to 'fix' the rest.

When you've done all that, test your system, and see whether your problem is gone.

You should get rid of everything that SpyBot found, including eAnthology.

If you downloaded and installed ALL updates you should be fine.

What you might do is go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Software. If you find entries for New.Net (Domains), Webhancer, and WhenuSave (also known as Save, or Save Now), uninstall those the correct way, and reboot when you're done.

Now, as a further precaution, download LSP Winsock-Fix

In case your internet connectivity were to get messed up, just run it so it reads the list of LSP modules from the Windows registry and verify that each module is present.

Then hit "Finish" and let it automatically correct the misnumbered entries . That will restore your Internet connection.

After doing all that, update SpyBot, run it again the way I described, and have it remove all it finds.

    REboot again when it's finished.
