I bought my daughter a 7 inch Android 2.3 Resistive Touchscreen Tablet PC Google 3G WiFi MID 4GB capactiy for Christmas. It is new not used or refurbished. I am using the usb cable it came with. When I plug the usb into the computer it makes a single tone and nothing else happens: My Computer doesn't show it as a device and the tablet doesn't complete the connection operation. We do not have wi-fi at this time. I thought she could use it connected to the computer while we set up wi-fi.
I am so frustrated! I also cannot find the manual-we have gone through all the christmas wrappings, lol. I thought we could just go on-line to find an on-line copy but can't. aargh.

If you don't have WiFi, you can't use it to browse the Internet.

I highly doubt there's a manual. It's only going to be useful for web browsing. It won't have the Android Market of apps available. She'll probably get tired of the resistive touch interface too if she's ever used a smartphone or iPad.

I guess I thought since it shipped with a USB cord it could connect to my computer to download files or surf the internet. Do you have any idea what the cord is for? She's 11 so I'm not too worried she'll get tired of the resistive surface.

It's probably for charging the battery. It may show up as a drive in My Computer, but it's really hard to tell with no-name tablets.

Google doesn't make hardware. They make the Android operating system. It's open source and can be installed on whatever devices any manufacturer wants to make. Only a few devices are certified by Google to run things like the Android Market, and the cheap no-name tablets don't fall into that category.

None of those devices get good reviews, and nearly everyone is disappointed with them. I suggest you return it if you can.
