I seem to have a loose connection to a hard drive. I want to replace the wide cable that is there with a new one. I have a new one that came with a cdrw drive. Are they all the same in that any wide cable can be used with any device or do I need to get a special one?

Thanks

A lot of newer HDD other IDE drives use an 80wire 40 pin cable. You probable have it as if you didn't and your drive wanted one, it'd tell you everytime you started up your computer. (It'll run on the older 40wire 40 pin cables, but just not as well as it COULD run.) :)
