I have Windows ME, and recently I have noticed a strange occurence becoming increasingly common. My screen will flash momentarily, and a blank window will appear minimized in my task bar. When I click on the button, it just disappears. It has while working in different programs, just in the desktop, etc.

    Any ideas?

Try loading this program then when you have the wierd button in the taskbar, run this program and post the results.
    Go to http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/ :

    Download StartupList 1.51

After unzipping the file, run it. You will see a text file displayed. Copy/paste the file directly to a reply. To copy/paste, when the file is open, click Edit>Select All > Edit > Copy and then right click on a reply window here and select "paste".

Well, you've got a few spyware/adware components installed,
mainly in the "Enumerating Download Program Files" section, so I'd start by removing these and see if this gets rid of the problem.

Download and run Spybot Search & Destroy

You can find instructions for running Spybot S&D here

Don't forget to check for updates before you run spybot..but it's a great program. Hi Egg
