I have only had this happen once. I had just shut my computer and was getting up and it turned back on. I didn't hit anything and it was for sure off. It started back up just fine but when i went to turn it back off the cd drive looked like it was having an epilepsy attack or something. It really wierded me out! It hasn't ever happened again since that one time. Nothing seems wrong just wondering what would cause that.

Diver--13,

Thanks for the post. I do have two questions though. Was your CD drive making a louder sound then usual? or perhaps the light blinking out of control? Please advise. Thanks

It sounds like the drive is a bit loose in the computer, causing all that rattling and noise, to verify, press on the drive and see if the the noise goes away. If so, thats the problem. Seems stupid, but I have seen it time and time again. Either that or vibration due to rotation.
