I have a Lenovo Ideapad 500 and I've been having internet connection issues since day one. Whether it's wired or wifi, it will say connected and it will never actually allow me to connect to the internet on any browser. It has Windows 10 and I've heard terrible things about Lenovo and Windows 10 issues with wifi. I've tried multiple fixes online and would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this issue where I'd be able to use the internet without hassle. Thanks.

Could be a firewall or security software issue. If you have any third party security software (including, of course, "trial" versions installed by the manufacturer or retailer) have you checked for proper configuration and for data definition updates?

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

    [Press ENTER after the command.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

What's the exact serial number on your Lenovo IdeaPad 500 laptop?
What country was it purchased in?

I took two pics of the results...The most simple idea I could think of at the time.

According to that serial number at the Lenovo U.S.A. support site, you have a Lenovo IdeaPad 500-15ACZ Laptop (Machine Type Model 80K4001MUS).

According to the log that Terry requested which you just submitted, it has these 2 networking devices:
Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter
    Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

Go into the Device Manager and then expand the Network Adapters heading.
Double-click those wireless and ethernet device entries to open their properties window.
    Select the "General" tab.
Does it say each device is working properly?
    Select the "Driver" tab.
What's the exact driver version for each device?

Terry doesn't appear to be on-line and logged in right now, so you'll need to wait until he replies and replies to your log.

Yes, both of the devices say, "this device is working properly."
The Qualcomm driver version is 12.0.0.254
The Realtek driver version is 10.1.505.2015
And I really appreciate the help so far. Thanks.

You have these same Windows 10 64-bit drivers that are listed for those 2 devices at that laptop's support site.

    Capture.JPG

However, its Realtek gigabit ethernet device has a much more current version HERE.

Click this "Global" link at the site to download and save that ZIP file inside an empty folder.

    Capture2.JPG

After you've done that, extract its contents into that same folder.

Open the new folder that appears so you can view its contents.

Double-click the "setup.exe" file to start the driver update process.

If all goes well, it'll update to version 10.19.627.2017
