Basically, what's happened is that after transferring my old PC's data onto my new one, and putting that one in place of my old one, therefore hooking up my modem to it, my wireless devices have been having trouble connecting to the router. Everything's hooked up fine, and it was working perfectly before, but now my devices such as my laptop and Droid Pro can SEE the router (As in connect to it and say that they are getting excellent signal strength), but when I try to open my browser, it asks as if I'm not connected to anything at all. The PC that's wired to the modem through the router works fine, however.
would you provide make and model of the modem/router
can we see an ipconfig /all from the new PC
------------------------------------------------------------------------ ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:
Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.
ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.
Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste ------------------------------------------------------------------------
The router is a Linksys E1000, and the modem was just one that I got from my ISP. Also, I've found that the router works perfectly if I completely take the PC out the setup. Any ideas?
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

have you got the modem connection connected to the internet connection on the linksys
The ipconfig /all looks like you are connected directly to the internet
so you have
1) connected up incorrectly
2) the setup of the router is incorrect
3) faulty
can we see an ipconfig /all with a PC just connected to the modem
I don't have the PC connected DIRECTLY to the modem, just through the routers ethernet port. Also, I just did a full power cycle, and got it to work for a little bit, except that when I was able to connect through a mobile device, it made it so the PC could no longer connect, and vice versa.
OK - if you look at the info here - when connected to the MODEM - post #7
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 71.89.69.220(Preferred)
and the info whe connected to the router - post #3
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 71.89.69.220(Preferred)
which means something is NOT connected correctly
or setup correctly
If you connect a PC by cable to one of the LAN 1 to 4 connections to the E1000
To access the browser-based utility, launch the web browser on your computer, and enter the Router’s default
Internet Protocol (IP) address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Then press Enter.
A login screen will appear. Leave the User name field blank. Then enter the password you set up during the setup software. (If you did not run the setup software, then use the default password, admin.
I just tried that, and all I got was a page saying that "Google Chrome was unable to connect 192.168.1.1"
Also, the network name that my PC's giving me is just "Network 2," not "Cisco66727" like on all my other devices. It seems like it's acting like the router isn't even there.
it maybe broken
but if you access via wireless have a look at the settings - this is where it may get complicated
can you post some of the general settings - is it in bridge mode at all ?
Oop, problem's changed. Now I CAN get a connection in my wireless devices, but the PC that I'm connected to isn't getting one. Network diagnostics says "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration."
see post #15 - can you post some info from the configuration page - screen shots perhaps
