Wifi gone on my laptop

For some time... the Wifi on my laptop would suddenly just stop working
It would show that either no networks are available or the system just won't detect the wifi card (that will happen 1 in 10 times)
I would have to reboot 1-5 times and suddenly it would be back!

Now... it seems to be gone

What can I do to fix?
How can I diagnose? Is it likely to be hardware or software fault from the above described?

I've got a USB wifi dongle that I'll use. It's a cheap Chinese brand one which seems to have a slow speed

Thanks

I'd guess failing hardware. It pointed that way when it worked sometime and not others.

Use the dongle.

If the integrated wireless adapter is easily reached through a small cover on the laptop bottom remove the adapter and carefully and firmly reinsert it several times. This will fix any potential looseness or corrosion of the contacts.
