You need to update your version of HijackThis. Open HJT> Config> Misc Tools> Check for update online. If that doesn't work, download it from my signature. Remove the hijackThis.exe you have now.

Post a new HijackThis log.

Post the WHOLE log please.

I suggest you do this:

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

Press the F8 key until the startup menu appears.

Choose the Safe Mode option then press Enter.

Go to Add / Remove Programs and remove NewDotNet.

1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files

7. Click OK and windows will comply.

1.
I ran my hijack this log and was able to take all of the things off that you listed. I am getting the following message: The newdotnet DLL is currently active you will now need to reboot and rescan then remove newdotnet and fix the winsock stack. I did this and it is still giving me the same message. I have a cable modem so I do not know if it is because my mobem goes online as soon as the computer reboots.

2. I have not been able to start my computer in SAFE Mode for about 6 months. I do not have any idea what happened, I went to start it one day and it does not work? I have tried F8 and control but to no avail. Do you have any ideas what may be wrong.

3. I will reboot my computer by using the "shutdown" button then restart and I will still get messages frequently that my computer was not shut down properly and scan disk has to check for errors?

Thank you in advance for any help you give,
Gretchen

Hi........Star in normal Windows.
Hit "Start">"Run" type "msconfig",hit the "Boot.ini" tab and put a check in the "Safeboot" option. You should now start in safe mode.
(Dont forget to uncheck this after your through)
Delete everything "NewDotNet" related, but do it through Add/Remove Programs if possible.
Back in normal mode.

Download AdAware 6.181 from here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate".

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------"ON=GREEN"

From main window :Click "Start" then " Activate in-depth scan"

Then......

Click "Use custom scanning options>Customize" and have these options on: "Scan within archives" ,"Scan active processes","Scan registry", "Deep scan registry" ,"Scan my IE Favorites for banned URL" and "Scan my host-files"

Then.........

Go to settings(the gear on top of AdAware)>Tweak>Scanning engine and tick "Unload recognized processes during scanning" and "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot"

Then...... click "proceed" to save your settings.

Now to scan it´s just to click the "Scan" button.

When scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose"select all" from the drop down menu)

Now re-boot and post an updated HijackThis log.

;)
