Anyone have any info or opinions regarding effectiveness of the native firewall in Win 7 (64 bit, if it matters)? I installed Comodo on my daughters new HP machine and as anyone who uses Comodo knows, It's requires a lot of user participation. She is not real happy with it.

Any other free firewalls compatible with 64 bit?

All responses appreciated.... Raybro

The windows 7 firewall is as good as any, I trust it more because it is an integral part of the OS, and has use of Windows API's not available to 3rd party firewalls.

The only thing lacking in the W7 firewall is outbound protection, which can be handled by this add on software that integrates with the W7 firewall, there is a free and paid version, I use the free one myself.

My absolute favorite firewall was Sygate, but it was bought by Symantec years back, it was the best most user friendly firewall ever made, I still use the last version released by Sygate on my XP machines...Not compatible with Vista/W7, : -(
