win 98, win explorer illeagal op'

    at start up this message appears b4 desk top opens.
    'details' show list of registers + list of stack dump .

    i've had a go at sys restore from dos command prompt but i guess i've lost the plot coz i keep getting ' bad command ' returned.:confused:

    any help appreciated . gord.

    Boot to a Command prompt and type

    SCANREG /RESTORE (note space between G and /)

    Select a date just before the problem started and restart the PC when finished.

    If I recall, using the scanreg /restore command should bring up a list of 5 registry backups.

    Don't use the oldest one.

    (Note: System Restore didn't come out until Windows ME was released.)

    no list of backups? but i may have missed the g/ gap i'll have another go, cheerz guys.
